ALLENTOWN, Penn. (Nov. 17, 2017) – The Misericordia University men's basketball team hit seven three-pointers in the opening half and junior guard
Stone McCreary (York, PA/Red Lion) broke the Scotty Wood Tournament record with eight treys in the game as the Cougars defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 98-71, on the opening night of the 36th annual tourney here Friday.
McCreary, who shot 8-for-12 from three-point range to pass the old tourney mark of seven three-pointers, finished with 26 points for the Cougars. Misericordia, the defending MAC Freedom champion, evened its record at 1-1 on the young season and advances to Saturday's Scotty Wood Tournament title game. It will play host Muhlenberg College Saturday at 8 p.m. Muhlenberg defeated SUNY-New Paltz, 98-88, in Friday's second game.
Rutgers-Camden dropped to 0-2. The Scarlet Raptors will play in the Scotty Wood Tournament consolation game Saturday against SUNY-New Paltz at 3 p.m.
The Scarlet Raptors and the Cougars traded three leads early in the first half, but with the score tied at 10-10, the Cougars took the lead for good with three consecutive treys, two of them McCreary and one by junior guard
Jason Kenny (Dickson City, PA/Mid Valley). That gave the Cougars a 19-10 lead and, although Rutgers-Camden scored the next six points, it was the closest the Raptors came the rest of the way. By halftime, the Cougars held a 45-35 lead. l

Noah Rivera (Wilmington, DE/Concord) both had nine first-half points and senior guard
Tre Fields (Johnson City, TN/Virginia Episcopal) added eight for Misericordia, which held a 26-16 first-half edge off the boards.
Rivera finished with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Fields had a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 15 boards. For the game, the Cougars held a 52-29 advantage off the boards.
Raptor freshman guard
Ian McCarthy (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) scored nine first-half points on 3-for-5 shooting from three-point range. He finished with 12 points.
Rutgers-Camden junior forward
Isaac Destin (Woodlynne, NJ/Collingswood) scored eight points in the opening half and finished with a team-high 16. He also led the Raptors with seven rebounds, while McCarthy added six.
Junior guard
Anthony Harris (Philadelphia, PA/Philadelphia E&T) notched 13 points for the Raptors. Senior guard

Juan Perez-Jones (Trenton, NJ/Pennsbury) dished off five assists for the Raptors, while Anfield added four.
Misericordia shot 34-for-74 (.459) from the floor, while Rutgers-Camden shot 25-for-64 (.391). The Cougars were 15-for-39 (.385) from three-point range.
