YORK, Penn. (April 14, 2019) – The York College of Pennsylvania baseball team overcame a five-run deficit, scoring 10 runs in its last three at bats, as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 10-5, in a non-conference makeup game here Sunday afternoon.
The game, postponed by rain on March 9, was the fifth in four days for the Scarlet Raptors, who went 2-3 in that span to drop their record to 13-15. York improves to 18-8, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Rutgers-Camden appeared well on its way to a third win in two days, taking a 5-0 lead through 5-1/2 innings behind stellar pitching from senior
Drew Zytko. Zytko worked into the sixth inning, allowing six hits, one walk and two earned runs through 5-2/3 innings. He left with a 5-2 lead after allowing solo homers in the sixth to center fielder Grant Olberholtzer and first baseman Jack Barry.
The Spartans took the lead for good with a five-run seventh inning, aided by three hits and three walks. The big blow in the inning was a two-run single by designated hitter Garrett Southern, breaking a 5-5 tie.
York added its final three runs in the eighth inning all on a bases-loaded double by Luke Turner. Turner finished the day going 3-for-5 with one run and four RBIs.

Brett Yurgin ripped a leadoff triple and scored on a ground out by junior third baseman

The Scarlet Raptors added two runs in the fifth on a Yurgin single and a two-run home run by sophomore catcher
R.J. Concepcion. They plated two more in the sixth on three walks, a single by junior second baseman
John Guccione, a throwing error by York's pitcher and a run-scoring balk.
Senior first baseman
Chris Jones went 3-for-4 with one run scored to lead the Raptors' 10-hit attack. Yurgin, Concepcion and Guccione each collected two hits.
Conor Miller (2-0) picked up the win in relief for the Spartans, working four shutout innings of three-hit ball. He walked two and struck out three.
Raptor sophomore
Jaylen Paula (0-3) took the loss, allowing five hits, three walks and five earned runs in 1-1/3 innings.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday when they play a 5 p.m. game (a time change from earlier in the season) at DeSales University.
