ABINGTON, Penn. (April 6, 2019) – After a record-setting fall semester which included an 8-1 record and seven straight victories, the Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team resumed its season with the spring portion of its schedule here Saturday.
After being idle since October 7, the Scarlet Raptors battled in a tough match before falling to Penn State-Abington, 5-4, to snap their winning streak. Rutgers-Camden falls to 8-2, while Abington improves to 3-7.
Rutgers-Camden received victories at first, third and fourth singles, while adding another win at third doubles. In the top singles spot, junior
Aubrey Hawn posted an 8-3 win. Freshmen
Tiffany Trivers and
LeAnne Hall won at the third spot (8-3) and the fourth spot (8-6), respectively.
Freshmen
Morgan Dempsey and
Hannah Cohan combined for an 8-5 victory at third doubles.
Raptor junior
Danielle Lemma lost at second singles (8-3) and Dempsey lost in the fifth spot (8-2). Freshman
Erica Steer dropped an 8-3 decision at sixth singles.
In the top two doubles spots, the combinations of Hawn and Lemma lost in the top spot (8-3) and Trivers and Hall were defeated in second singles (8-5).
Rutgers-Camden will host Yeshiva University April 14 at 12 p.m.
