Senior Spotlight: John Guccione

Over the next several weeks, Rutgers University-Camden will be highlighting senior student-athletes who were denied their final athletic season when the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled their spring semester competition. In their own words, departing athletes will discuss their experiences at Rutgers-Camden.

The feature will be posted every Monday and Thursday.

Today's focus is on John Guccione, who started all six games at second base this season for Rutgers-Camden before the Scarlet Raptors' campaign was cut short by the pandemic. A four-year infielder with the Scarlet Raptors, the Business Management major also was a Dean's List student who earned many academic honors.
  1. What is your favorite memory being a student-athlete at Rutgers-Camden?
My favorite memory would probably be getting the go-ahead RBI single late in the game against NJCU last year.
  1. What will you miss the most?
I will miss competing with all of my teammates throughout my four years here at RUC.
  1. What is the best advice you have received from your coach?
The best advice I received is to stay positive throughout the ups and downs. In baseball, failure and adversity happen often and it is important to always find a way to bounce back.
  1. What is next for you? What are your future plans and goals?
One of my future goals would be to receive a job in the sports business world.

      5.  Any special thanks, acknowledgements, or final words?

I'd like to thanks my parents, family, and friends for their endless support and belief in me throughout the last four years.
