Over the next several weeks, Rutgers University-Camden will be highlighting senior student-athletes who were denied their final athletic season when the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled their spring semester competition. In their own words, departing athletes will discuss their experiences at Rutgers-Camden.

The feature will be posted every Monday and Thursday.

Today's focus is on
Keith Jacobs, a right-handed pitcher who went 1-0 in each of his two seasons at Rutgers-Camden after pitching two years at Felician University. An English major at Rutgers-Camden, Jacobs earned academic honors at both schools.

1.  What is your favorite memory being a student-athlete at Rutgers-Camden?

The final game that we played against Neumann University. We won by a lot, and the energy we had that day was amazing. We just knew after that game that we were going to be doing something special.

2.  What will you miss the most?

When you spend so much time with them, they become brothers. They're people that you look forward to seeing every single day, and the fact that I can't see them every day any more is crazy.

3.  What is the best advice you have received from your coach?

Life doesn't reward people who cheat their work. You have to work hard every single day, and those are the people who get rewarded.

4. What is next for you? What are your future plans and goals?

I would like to break into journalism or broadcasting. My big goal is to have my own sports radio show one day.

5. Any special thanks, acknowledgements, or final words?

I want to thank my family for always believing in me. I want to thank my teammates for taking me in, treating me like family, and providing some of the best experiences of my life. I finally want to thank my coaches and Rutgers-Camden for giving me the opportunity to play college baseball. I will never forget it.
