CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 22, 2021) –Rutgers University-Camden freshman Gavin Henry (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township) is only six games into his collegiate basketball career, but he's already made an impression in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
 
Henry was honored today as the NJAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week following a pair of fine performances over the weekend against Stockton University. During a pair of games on Friday and Saturday, Henry averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds, while adding one assist and three steals. He shot 8-for-18 (.444) from the floor and 6-for-7 (.857) from the foul line, including a 6-for-6 performance on Saturday.
 
During Friday's game, Henry notched a game-high 14 points. On Saturday, he had a game-high nine rebounds, while tying for the Raptors' team lead with 11 points. His nine rebounds tied the career high he set against The College of New Jersey on Feb. 12.
 
After his first six collegiate games, Henry leads the team in scoring (12.0 ppg) and is second in rebounding (5.0 rpg). He has added four assists and is tied for second on the team with six steals. Overall, he is shooting 26-for-53 (.491) from the floor, including 10-for-24 (.417) from three-point range. He is 10-for-15 (.667) from the foul line.
 
Henry's performance against Stockton also earned him Rutgers-Camden honors on Monday as the school's Raptor of the Week.
 
Henry was a varsity letterman in basketball, track and cross country at Winslow Township High School. During his first semester at Rutgers-Camden (Fall 2020), the Political Science major earned a berth on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was a Dean's List student.
