GALLOWAY, N.J. (March 26, 2021) – It didn't take long for senior throwers
Emily Hilt and
Jude Misko to rewrite the Rutgers University-Camden outdoor track record books.
Hilt broke outdoor program records in the hammer and the shot put, while Misko shattered his own school record in the hammer as the Scarlet Raptors opened their outdoor track and field season at the first Stockton Invitational of the spring here Friday. Rutgers-Camden will compete at a second Stockton Invitational on Friday, April 2.
Hilt won the 13-athlete shot put competition with a put of 11.98 meters, breaking the mark of 11.79 meters by Amanda Thompson in 2002. Hilt finished fourth of 10 athletes with a program-record 42.14-meter hammer throw. The old record was 39.84 by Brianna Kearse in 2016. Hilt also placed fifth of 13 athletes in the discus with a throw of 34.11 meters.
Misko, meanwhile, broke his old school mark of 54.59 when he finished first of 11 in the hammer throw. He raised his mark to 57.97, over three meters more than his 2019 school record.
Freshman
Alexis Marini also competed in the hammer, shot put and discus for the Raptor women, finishing ninth in the shot (9.92 meters), 10th in the hammer (28.40 meters) and 10th in the discus (26.96 meters).
On the track, freshman
