MAHWAH, NJ (April 10, 2021) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team continued its long two-season winning streak here Saturday as it outlasted Ramapo College, 5-4, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match.
The Scarlet Raptors improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC this season and have now won 10 straight matches dating back to the 2019 fall semester. They didn't have a match during the 2020 spring or 2020 fall semesters due to the pandemic.
Junior
Tiffany Trivers and freshman
Samantha Hoban both won two matches for the Scarlet Raptors. Hoban earned her first collegiate singles win at first singles (5-7, 3-4, retired) and teamed with junior
LeAnne Hall for an 8-6 win at first doubles.
Trivers earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at second singles and combined with junior
Hannah Cohan for an 8-4 victory at second doubles. The two wins raised Trivers' career total to 35, sixth on the program's all-time list and only one shy of fifth-place Avery Forte (2012-14). Trivers owns 19 career singles victories, fifth on the program's career list.
Rutgers-Camden also received a win at sixth singles from junior
Erica Steer by a 6-2, 6-5 score. Steer and sophomore
Alyna Cabrera dropped an 8-4 decision at third doubles.
Hall lost her third singles match (1-6, 1-6), Cabrera was defeated at fourth singles (1-6, 0-6) and Cohan dropped a marathon match at fifth singles (3-6, 6-2, 8-10).
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Sunday, April 11, when they host Stockton University in a 12 p.m. match.
