CAMDEN, NJ (April 18, 2021) – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team has been the New Jersey Athletic Conference champion every year since competition started in 1982.
That's the kind of competition it took to end the long winning streak by Rutgers University-Camden.
The Lions swept every match against the Scarlet Raptors here Sunday to post a 9-0 victory in NJAC competition. The victory lifts TCNJ to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the NJAC. All seven wins have come by 9-0 scores.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-1 overall and in the NJAC, snapping a long 11-match winning streak that started during the 2019 fall semester. There were no matches during the spring or fall semesters in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The last time the Scarlet Raptors lost was on Sept. 1, 2019 when they dropped another 9-0 decision against TCNJ. After that, Rutgers-Camden won its final eight matches of the 2019 fall semester.
The Lions are 10-0 in the all-time series against Rutgers-Camden, winning by 9-0 scores each time.

Samantha Hoban lost a 6-0, 6-0 decision at first singles, while juniors
Tiffany Trivers and
LeAnne Hall were defeated 6-0, 6-1 at second and third singles, respectively. Sophomore
Alyna Cabrera dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at fourth singles, junior
Hannah Cohan lost 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and junior
Erica Steer was defeated 6-0, 6-1 at sixth singles.
At first doubles, Hoban and Hall were defeated, 8-0. Trivers and Cohan lost 8-1 at second doubles and Cabrera and Steer were defeated at third doubles, 8-0.
The Scarlet Raptors return to NJAC play Tuesday with a 6 p.m. match at William Paterson University.
