Volleyball team splits tri-match with Alvernia, Brooklyn
CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 9, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team bounced back from a loss in its first match to defeat Brooklyn College, 3-1, and split a home tri-match here Sunday.
The Scarlet Raptors lost to Alvernia University, 3-0, in the opening match of the day and the Golden Wolves also swept past Brooklyn, 3-0. In the final match of the day, Rutgers-Camden beat Brooklyn in four sets.
The split leaves the Scarlet Raptors with an 8-9 record. Alvernia improves to 9-8 and Brooklyn falls to 11-11.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday with a New Jersey Athletic Conference match. They host Montclair State University at 7 p.m.
Alvernia 3, Rutgers-Camden 0
The Golden Wolves won by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-17 behind junior Rachel Sipling, who had 17 kills and hit .533.
Rutgers-Camden received nine kills and two aces from junior
Erica Nebrich, while sophomore
Kaitlyn Parrish and junior
Dyamond Free both had seven kills. Parrish hit .357.

Brinn Hassan collected 26 assists to put her over the 2,300 milestone for her career and give her 2,323.

Morgan Fox led the Raptors with eight digs, while Hassan and senior
Haley Novak both added five.
Rutgers-Camden 3, Brooklyn 1
The Scarlet Raptors won the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-14, before Brooklyn captured a 25-20 victory in the third set. Rutgers-Camden wrapped up the match with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set.
Free paced the Scarlet Raptors with 14 kills, while freshman
Ciera McCrae and Nebrich both added 11 kills. Nebrich capped off her big day by hitting .320, adding three aces and completing a double-double with 11 digs.
Hassan collected 42 assists to raise her career mark to 2,365, while adding four aces and nine digs.
Fox led the Scarlet Raptors with 20 digs.
