MADISON, N.J. (Nov. 27, 2022) – Freshman forward
Cameron Downs scored 19 of his game-high 21 points in the second half and the Rutgers University-Camden men's basketball team defeated FDU-Florham, 62-53, in a non-conference game here Sunday.
The win snaps the Scarlet Raptors' three-game losing streak, lifting them to 2-4 on the season.
The Devils fall to 0-6.
The Scarlet Raptors trailed most of the first half before rallying to grab a 29-25 lead at the break. With the game tied, 2-2, FDU-Florham scored the next six points and led until the Scarlet Raptors grabbed a 23-22 lead on a jumper by sophomore guard
Kobe Devine with 2:28 remaining in the half. After a free throw tied the game for FDU-Florham, the Raptors scored the next six points on a pair of foul shots by sophomore guard
Jordan Trusty-Smith and a pair of Devine layups. The Devils scored the last two points of the half on a pair of foul shots by sophomore center Michael Morrissey.

Jaymes Savage both had six points at halftime for the Scarlet Raptors, while Trusty-Smith had four steals in the opening 20 minutes.
Junior guard Michael Dabas had six first-half points for the Devils.
FDU-Florham managed to cut its deficit to two points (41-39) midway through the second half, but Rutgers-
Camden never surrendered its lead after the break. The Scarlet Raptors shot 24-for-58 (41.4 percent) from the floor, while the Devils went 16-for-47 (34.0). FDU-Florham held a 35-34 edge off the boards.
Downs shot 8-for-14 (57.1) from the floor and 5-for-7 (71.4) from the foul line on his way to 21 points. He also added a game-high 12 rebounds for the second double-double of his young career. Both his 21 points and 12 rebounds set his collegiate highs.
Savage finished with 12 points, while Trusty-Smith notched nine points and added game highs of six steals and three assists. Junior guard
Gavin Henry added seven points for the Scarlet Raptors.
Although Devine finished with his six first-half points, they were key in giving the Raptors the halftime lead. He also added four steals.
Dabas led the Devils with 16 points, while sophomore guard Carson Woods added 11.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday with 5:30 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game at Stockton University.
