GALLOWAY, N.J. (Nov. 30, 2022) – The Stockton University men's basketball team went on a 20-point run from the end of the first half through early in the second half, opening up a tight game, and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 75-57, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest here Wednesday night.
The Ospreys improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fell to 2-5 and 0-2.
Rutgers-Camden has lost its last 29 games against Stockton since posting an 87-74 win in Camden on Feb. 13, 2008.
Stockton raced to a 7-0 lead and held Rutgers-Camden scoreless for 2:35 to open the game before Raptor senior guard
Jaymes Savage scored on a layup. That shot sparked Rutgers-Camden, which climbed back into the game to make it a 9-7 contest behind a jumper from freshman guard

The Scarlet Raptors never quite came all the way back, however, although they rallied from a 26-13 deficit to cut their gap to 26-20 with 3:45 remaining in the half. A foul shot by sophomore forward

After a timeout, Stockton scored the last 12 points of the first half to grab a 38-20 lead. The Ospreys followed with the first eight points of the second half, making it a 46-20 game before Raptor sophomore guard
Kobe Devine ended the 20-point run with a three-pointer. That shot, coming 3:45 into the second half, snapped the Scarlet Raptors' scoreless string at 7:30.
Stockton placed 12 players in the scoring column, led by 14 points from junior guard DJ Campbell and 12 points from senior forward Jonathan Azoroh. Azoroh, Campbell and senior guard Kyion Flanders all had seven rebounds to lead the Ospreys, who held a 41-30 advantage off the boards.

Steven Light scored a career-high 11 points to pace Rutgers-Camden, while junior forward
Rich Santos added seven. Trusty-Smith, Savage, Henry and Pierre added six points apiece.
Savage led the Raptors with six rebounds, while Trusty-Smith added five. Light notched three assists.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with 1 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game at Montclair State University.
