MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Dec. 3, 2022) – The Montclair State University men's basketball team opened up a 28-point halftime lead and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 94-62, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday.
The win lifted the Red Hawks to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fell to 2-6 and 0-3. Montclair State has won its last four games against Rutgers-Camden.
Rutgers-Camden's lone leads in the game came at 3-0 and 4-3 on a three-pointer and a foul shot, respectively, by senior guard
Jaymes Savage. The Red Hawks took the lead for good at 6-4 on a three-pointer by senior guard Devin Cooper on their way to a 53-25 halftime lead.
Montclair State placed 16 players in the scoring column, led b senior forward Steven Breeman, with 15 points. Sophomore guard Kyree Henry added 11 points. The Red Hawks held a 44-23 advantage off the boards, with junior guard Kieran Flanagan notching six rebounds to lead the way.

Montclair State shot 34-for-64 (53.1 percent) from the floor, including 14-for-32 (43.8) from three-point range. Rutgers-Camden shot 21-for-55 (38.2) overall and 3-for-21 (14.3) from three-point range.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Rowan University in an 8 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
