LeAnne Hall and
Morgan Dempsey tied Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis single-season records for most doubles wins and most doubles wins with the same partner as the Scarlet Raptors swept past Bryn Athyn College, 9-0, here Saturday.
Rutgers-Camden raised its 2021-22 season record to 10-0, while it was the first match of the collegiate year for the Lions. The Scarlet Raptors have won their last four matches by 9-0 scores, dating back to their final two matches of last semester.
Dempsey and Hall posted their 11th doubles victory of the year, including 10 dual matches and one in the Goucher Invitational last fall, to tie the individual mark shared by four other players. They also tied the mark of 11 doubles wins with one partner, set during the 2012-13 season by Amanda Hickman and Morgan Kelly and tied the next year by Kelsey Mercer and Amy Tung.
Hall and Dempsey won, 8-0, at third doubles. Hall also posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles and Dempsey won by the same score at fifth singles.
Sophomore
Sarah Ahrens notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, while sophomore
Samantha Hoban won at second singles, 6-1, 6-0. Junior
Laurel DiStefano notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles and senior
Hannah Cohan was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at sixth singles.
Hoban raised her team-leading singles record to 11-2, including action in the Goucher Invitational.
The Raptors' top doubles team of Ahrens and Hoban earned an 8-0 win, while the second doubles team won 8-1 behind the combination of DiStefano and Cohan.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Thursday when it entertains Ursinus College at 3:30 p.m.
