Adams powers Neumann past Raptor lacrosse team

CAMDEN, N.J. (March 9, 2022) – Senior attack Brylin Adams scored four goals in the opening 4:30 of the game on her way to seven goals as the Neumann University lacrosse team defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 15-2, in a non-conference game here Wednesday.

Neumann improves to 2-1, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 1-2. The Knights have won all 10 of the games in their all-time series against the Raptors.

Neumann scored the first four goals, all by Adams, before the Scarlet Raptors finally got on the board with 5:40 gone in the game on a goal by senior midfielder Claire Gailliout. It was her ninth tally of the season, but was followed by goals from sophomore attack Maggie Blemings and Adams. That gave the Knights a 6-1 lead after one quarter, with five of those goals being scored by Adams.

By halftime, the Knights held an 11-2 lead, with Claire Gailliout assisting freshman midfielder Ciara Butler on the other Scarlet Raptor goal.

In addition to the goals by Adams, Neumann received four goals from senior midfielder Reilly Fiedler. Blemings scored two goals for the Knights, who held 31-8 advantage in shots.

Freshman attack Bekah Brosky had a game-high six ground balls, while also adding a goal for the Knights. Neumann senior Catriona Corrigan and sophomore Ava Irwin split duties in the Knights' goal, making three and one save, respectively.

In addition to scoring a goal and an assist, Claire Gailliout also added team highs of four caused turnovers and four ground balls. A pair of defenders, freshman Kendall James and senior Jenna Jorgenson, added two ground balls apiece.

Sophomore goalie G Bellon made 10 saves and added 10 ground balls.

Rutgers-Camden returns to action Monday with a 4 p.m. game at Delaware Valley University.
