CAMDEN, N.J. (April 1, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team had played only one match this scholastic year entering Friday's competition against SUNY-Oneonta due to weather issues and lack of numbers.
That match came on March 11 in a 9-0 loss against Eastern University. The results were the same here Friday as the Scarlet Raptors dropped a 9-0 decision against the Red Dragons.
Oneonta improved to 3-4, while Rutgers-Camden fell to 0-2.
The visitors were aided by a pair of forfeits at the third doubles and sixth singles spots.
Sophomores
Andrew Yuen and
Ken Tuppal lost at first doubles, 8-2, while sophomore
Hani Qureshi and freshman
Sean Boen dropped an 8-0 decision at second doubles.
In singles, Yuen lost 6-1, 6-0 at the top spot. The Scarlet Raptors were swept 6-0, 6-0 at the other contested singles matches, with Tuppal playing second singles, Qureshi at the third spot, Boen at the fourth flight and freshman
Cristian Valdez playing fifth singles.
The Scarlet Raptors open their New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule Saturday with a 12 p.m. match at The College of New Jersey.
