CAMDEN, N.J. (April 21, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis program honored four players on Senior Day here Thursday in the final home match of their career.
Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raptors, they were swept by New Jersey City University, 9-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match. Rutgers-Camden fell to 12-4 overall and 2-3 in NJAC play, while NJCU improved to 7-5 and 5-1.
The Scarlet Raptors recognized a quartet of four-year stars in seniors
Hannah Cohan, Morgan Dempsey, LeAnne Hall and
Tiffany Trivers. Those players and the rest of the Scarlet Raptors will close out their season Saturday at 12 p.m. at Kean University, needing a win to secure fourth place and a playoff berth in the NJAC.
Rutgers-Camden lost all three doubles matches by 8-1 scores, with sophomore
Sarah Ahrens joining Trivers at first doubles, sophomore
Samantha Hoban teaming with junior
Laurel DiStefano at second doubles and the combination of Hall and Dempsey playing third doubles.
Ahrens and Hoban both dropped their singles matches, 6-1, 6-2, at the first and second flights, respectively. Trivers lost, 6-1, 6-0, at third singles, DiStefano lost 6-1, 6-1 at the fourth flight and Hall dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at fifth singles. In the sixth spot, Cohan was defeated, 6-0, 6-1.
