CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 3, 2023) – Junior middle blocker/right side
Kaliyah Moss collected 12 kills, four blocks and hit .579 as the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team swept New Jersey City University, 3-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Tuesday night.
The Scarlet Raptors won by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-12 to post their third straight win, all coming by 3-0 scores.
Rutgers-Camden improves to a season-high three wins over .500 at 10-7. The Scarlet Raptors evened their NJAC record at 2-2. The Raptors have won 15 of their last 16 matches against the Gothic Knights, with the only blemish in that run coming in a 3-2 NJCU win last season in Jersey City.
NJCU falls to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Moss, with her 12 kills and only one error in 19 total attacks, had one of the top hitting performances in program history, tying Jamie Mulligan (Oct. 9, 2019) for the 13th-highest hitting percentage among all individuals with 12 or more kills in a single match. She already had been on that list with the 11th-highest mark of .583, accomplished in 2021.
The Scarlet Raptors finished with 39 kills in the three-set match, including seven apiece by seniors
Erica Nebrich and
Isabella Choice, who hit .333. Senior
Dyamond Free added six kills and junior
Kaitlyn Parrish had four kills while hitting .364. Freshman
Sofia Granieri delivered the other three kills, while hitting .750, and also added 15 assists.
Freshman
JoAnna Andrews had a team-high 16 assists and added five digs. Nebrich collected a match-high 12 digs, while freshman
Mia Owens added eight. Sophomores
Sophia LaPorta and
Bella Craig both had six digs.
Six different Raptors had one service ace apiece: Owens, Craig, Nebrich, Parrish, Free and Andrews.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Sunday with a 12 p.m. non-conference match at Alvernia University.
