MAHWAH, N.J. (May 6, 2023) – Rutgers University-Camden senior Emily Hilt won her second consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference hammer throw championship, setting a meet record in the process, and junior Alexis Marini finished third in the event as the Scarlet Raptors competed on the first day of the NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ramapo College Saturday.

Hilt finished first in a field of 24 hammer throwers with a meet record of 54.19 meters, shattering her old NJAC Championship record of 51.02 meters, set last spring. Her throw also nearly broke her own Rutgers-Camden program record of 54.33 meters, set on April 7 at the Osprey Open.

Marini, meanwhile, finished third in the hammer throw with a PR of 50.47 meters, shattering her previous top mark of 48.16 meters set on April 28 while winning the event at the Lions Invitational.

With their dominance in the hammer throw, Hilt and Marini helped Rutgers-Camden's women collect 16 points out of their 18, leaving the Scarlet Raptors fourth out of 10 NJAC teams on the first day of the meet. The NJAC meet concludes Sunday at Ramapo College.

The Scarlet Raptor men, meanwhile, finished the first day without a point as they were tied for eighth place of the 10 competing teams.
