CENTER VALLEY, Penn. (Sept. 1, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team worked overtime in a hard-fought season opener, and the extra effort produced good results for the Scarlet Raptors.
Rutgers-Camden edged Dickinson College, 3-2, here Friday night in its first match in the DeSales University Tournament. The Raptors won by scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 15-25 and 15-7.
Kaliyah Moss, an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention player in 2021, made a triumphant return to the volleyball court after missing the 2022 season. Moss collected 17 kills, 21 digs and five service aces, while
Erica Nebrich also added a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs.
Dyamond Free added eight kills for the Raptors, who collected 50 kills in the match.
Isabella Choice notched six kills and four blocks, including two solo blocks.
Newcomers
JoAnna Andrews and
Sofia Granieri had 19 and 17 assists, respectively.
Sophomore
Bella Craig added 14 digs for the Raptors.
The Scarlet Raptors close play at the DeSales University Tournament Saturday with a pair of matches. The face host DeSales at 10 a.m. and play Clarkson University at 2 p.m. Rutgers-Camden opens its home schedule Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Hunter College.
