MIDDLETOWN, Penn. (Nov. 23, 2024) – Freshman guard Mikayla Coleman led three Penn State-Harrisburg players in double figures with a game-high 23 points as the Nittany Lions defeated the Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team, 73-59, in a non-conference game here Saturday.
The loss drops the Scarlet Raptors to 3-2, while the Nittany Lions improve to 3-1.
The home team outscored the Raptors, 21-13, in the second quarter to take the lead for good by halftime, 37-30. Penn State-Harrisburg went ahead to stay, 29-27, on a pair of foul shots by graduate forward Jordan Carpenter.
After trailing, 48-42, after three quarters, the Scarlet Raptors cut their deficit to 55-52 with 6:15 remaining in regulation on a tip-in by freshman forward
Courtney Edmundo. The Nittany Lions, however, scored the next seven points to build a 62-52 lead and went on to win by 14.
In addition to Coleman, Penn State-Harrisburg received 18 points from senior guard Giahny Correa. Carpenter added 15 points and completed a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds. Correa led all players with five steals.
Rutgers-Camden freshman guard
Hope Goodwine scored 18 points, while adding seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Edmundo finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, while adding three steals and a game-high five assists.

Aiya Underwood grabbed nine rebounds and added six points, while freshman guard
Mya Patino also scored six for the Scarlet Raptors.
Rutgers-Camden shot 20-for-62 from the floor (32.3 percent), including 3-for-16 (18.8) from three-point range, and 16-for-24 (66.7) from the foul line. Penn State-Harrisburg shot 21-for-63 (33.3) from the floor, including 8-for-25 (32.0) from beyond the arc. The Nittany Liona shot a stellar 23-for-25 (92.0) from the foul line.
Rutgers-Camden held a 48-41 advantage off the boards, but also made five more turnovers (25-20).
Rutgers-Camden begins its New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule on Tuesday when it plays a 6 p.m. game at Rutgers-Newark.
