ASTON, Penn. (Oct. 11, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team came painfully close to sweeping a tri-match here at Neumann University, but in the end the Scarlet Raptors ended up splitting their two matches against Pratt Institute and the host team.
Rutgers-Camden swept Pratt in three sets, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21. The Scarlet Raptors lost in five sets against Neumann, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 14-16.
In the other match of the day, Neumann swept Pratt, 3-0.
The result of the tri-match leaves Rutgers-Camden with an 8-11 record, while Pratt falls to 2-12 and Neumann improves to 8-9.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action on Tuesday when they host New Jersey City University in a 7 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference match.

Rutgers-Camden received six kills apiece from four players as senior setter
Avery Ang, sophomore middle blocker
Gabby Gbolahan, freshman outside hitter
Asha Pensa Johnson and freshman middle blocker
Jana Jovanovic each had a half-dozen kills. Jovanovic hit .500 for the match and added two block assists..
Ang added 12 digs, nine assists and two service aces, while junior setter
JoAnna Andrews had 12 assists. Junior libero
Mia Owens notched 11 digs and three service aces and junior defensive specialist
Madison Snelgrove collected a math-high four service aces.

Cassie Guim notched six assists, one kill and one block assist.
Neumann 3, Rutgers-Camden 2
The final match of the day came down to a fifth-set battle before the host team survived with a 16-14 victory.
In the decisive fifth set, Rutgers-Camden took a 10-4 lead before watching the Knights roll off eight straight points to surge ahead, 12-10. A kill by Raptor junior outside hitter
Sofia Granieri pulled Rutgers-Camden to within 12-11 before Neumann scored again on a Scarlet Raptor attack error. Consecutive kills by Granieri, however, gave Rutgers-Camden a 14-13 lead.
Neumann tied the set at 14-14 on a Raptor attack error and the Knights wrapped up the win on consecutive kills by sophomore outside hitters Julia Solomon and Melissa Eddy.
Granieri finished with 13 kills, while freshman defensive specialist
Ella Carmen Truitt collected a double-double with 11 kills, 18 digs, three service aces and one assist.
Ang added a double-double with 21 assists and 13 digs, along with her five kills and Andrews notched a third Raptor double-double with 17 assists and 13 digs.
Owens continued her outstanding play with 26 digs and four assists, while Snelgrove added 14 digs, two assists, one ace and one kill.
Pensa Johnson added nine kills, five digs and two block assists and Jovanovic had four kills, four block assists, three digs and one assist.
