CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 18, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden and New Jersey City University men's soccer teams traded goals within a two-minute span early in the second half and that was all the scoring as the teams played to a 1-1 tie in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.
The draw leaves Rutgers-Camden with a 6-6-3 record overall and a 3-2-1 mark in the conference, while extending the Scarlet Raptors winless streak to four games (0-3-1).
NJCU stands at 4-9-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the NJAC.
The tie broke a 13-game losing streak for NJCU in its conference rivalry against Rutgers-Camden, dating back to a 0-0 tie in Camden on October 26, 2011. Rutgers-Camden is 32-8-9 in the all-time series.
NJCU broke the scoring ice at 48:51 following a shot by sophomore forward Max Bzuikiewicz, which was saved by Raptor junior goalie
Aleksander Nycz. The rebound ended up on the feet of sophomore midfielder Javier Pena at the top of the box and he buried a high shot to the center of the net.

Nik Grello fed senior
Eric Swen on the right side of the box and he angled a shot into the goal at 50:38. It was Swen's second goal of the season and the team-leading fourth assist for Grello.
Rutgers-Camden finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks, but held only a 5-4 margin in shots on goals. NJCU junior goalie Camilo Pascual Verdu finished with four saves, while Nycz had three for Rutgers-Camden.
The Scarlet Raptors return to NJAC play on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game at William Paterson University.
