CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2025) – Salisbury University junior Connor Pyles headed home a corner kick by sophomore Kai Lindsay with only 2.2 seconds left on the clock as the Sea Gulls stunned Rutgers University-Camden, 2-1, in a non-conference game here Wednesday night.
With the clock clicking down in a hard-fought game, it appeared both teams would settle for a 1-1 tie before the visitors rushed to take their 12th corner kick of the night and Pyles made it pay off with his first goal of the season. It was the second assist off a corner kick in the game for Lindsay, who served a ball that junior Liam Pierce converted only 2:44 into the contest. It was the team-leading third goal for Pierce.
The win lifts Salisbury to 3-2-2. Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-3-1 with its third one-goal loss in five days.
Rutgers-Camden collected the tying goal in the 38th minute when junior midfielder
Tommy Monaghan sent a free kick from the left side into the right panel for his first goal of the season. The Raptors nearly took the lead midway through the second half, but a backsave at the goal line thwarted a shot by sophomore midfielder
Nik Grello.
Salisbury finished with a 12-9 advantage in shots and a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore goalie Clif Nehman made three saves and was aided by a backsave, while Rutgers-Camden junior
Aleksander Nycz made four saves.
The Sea Gulls held a 12-8 advantage in corner kicks.
The Scarlet Raptors play a 4 p.m. game at Lebanon Valley College on Saturday.
