Dinerman, Robert lead Raptors at season cross country opener

HOLMDEL, N.J (Sept. 6, 2025) –The Rutgers University-Camden cross country programs opened their 2025 season here Saturday as both the men and the women ran 5K races in the Back to the Bowl Invitational. The 10-team meet was held at Holmdel Park.
 
The Raptor men finished sixth with 160 points in a race won by host Stevens Institute of Technology (40 points). The women placed eighth (242) in a race won by Wagner (23).
 
Newcomer Dejia Robert paced the Scarlet Raptor women and finished 27th of 74 overall in a time of 23:49.50. Wagner's Angela Cavalieri was the top female runner at 20:13.70.
 
The Raptor men saw junior Jacob Dinerman place second out of 93 runners in a time of 16:06.30, barely behind the overall winner, Florian Hinry of Wagner (16:05.90).
 
On the women's side, senior Xochitl Bautista-Castelan finished second on the team and 53rd overall (29:24.90, followed by junior Lindsay Lopez Trejo, who was 57th overall (31:02.40). Junior Mya Cabanas Montero was fourth on the team and 71st overall (36:12.60), while sophomore Katelynn Aurelus placed fifth on the team and 74th overall (44:20.90.
 
The Scarlet Raptor men saw nine men competing, including six running their first meet at Rutgers-Camden. In addition to Dinerman, the Raptors saw freshman Jack Wessner finish second on the team and 37th overall (19:40.80), while sophomore Josiah Saint Elien was 51st overall (20:13.30) and freshman Dylan Davies was 56th (20:29.60).
 
Freshman Joseph Simone was fifth on the team and 68th overall (22:00.90), junior Angel Chaj was sixth on the Raptors and 74th overall (23:50.10) and junior Mike Olsen was 78th (25:53.70). Rounding out the Raptors' big team were freshmen Kennedy Nelson (82nd overall, 26:48.30) and Jonathan Gomez (84th, 27:10.20).
 
The Scarlet Raptors will return to action on Friday, when they will join the non-conference field at the United East Preview, hosted by Penn State-Brandywine in Media, Pennsylvania. The men's race begins at 4:30 p.m.
