GALLOWAY, N.J. – Sophomore
Millie Kipp (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished 15th of 80 runners in a time of 24:38.52 to lead the Rutgers University-Camden women's cross country team at the 6K New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Championships here Saturday at Richard Stockton College.
The Scarlet Raptors finished fifth of nine teams with a total of 139 points. The College of New Jersey won the race, aided by individual winner Carly Martz (22:46.40).
Freshman
Brianna Dugan (Deptford, NJ/Deptford), who was one of four Scarlet Raptors to post their best 6K time at Rutgers-Camden, was second on the team and 26th overall with a clocking of 25:49.95.
Sophomore
Danielle Iannone (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) finished third on the team and 34th overall (26:17.31), while freshman
Emily Daiutolo (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) finished 42nd (27:11.11).
Sophomores
Kelly Donegan (Stratford, NJ/Sterling) and
Melanie Derham (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional) finished 63rd (31:29.04) and 74th (33:34.82), while freshman
Brittany Thompson (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) was 77th (38:35.94).
In addition to Dugan, Daiutolo, Donegan and Thompson all posted their top 6K times at Rutgers-Camden.
The Scarlet Raptors are idle next week. They return to action Oct. 4 in the Belmont Classic, which will begin at 11 a.m. at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.
