MAHWAH, N.J. (May 2, 2015) –Rutgers University-Camden juniors
Rob O'Brien (Cherry Hill, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) and
Trey Gilliard (Bear, DE/William Penn) qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash to highlight the Scarlet Raptors' first day of competition at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship here Saturday at Ramapo College.
O'Brien finished second out of 25 in the preliminaries with an 11.08 clocking, while Gilliard was sixth with a personal best time of 11.13. They will compete in the 100-meter dash final Sunday afternoon.
Scarlet Raptor sophomore
Steven Schneider (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) had a big day in the throws, finishing fifth out of 19 in the javelin (50.59 M/166-0) to earn the Raptors four points and setting a personal best in the hammer, finishing 11th of 23 (36.99 M/121-04).
The Scarlet Raptors also saw freshman
Dylan Feldman (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) finish 11th of 15 in the 110-meter high hurdles, posting a personal best time of 15.88.
On the women's side, three Lady Raptors competed in the hammer during the opening day of action. Freshman
Michelle Impoco (Somerdale, NJ/Highland Regional) finished 15th of 18 (24.94/81-10) and sophomore
Makenzie Martorano (Laurel Springs, NJ/Highland Regional) was 16th of 18 (24.28 M/79-08). Freshman
Brianna Kearse (Stratford, NJ/Sterling), who set the program record in the event earlier this season, fouled in the hammer on Saturday.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Sunday at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
