GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 21, 2017) –One day after breaking a 10-game losing streak and posting its first complete game of the season, the Rutgers University-Camden baseball team notched another win and another complete game here Friday.

Zach Welsher (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) fired a three-hitter, walking three and striking out 12, as the Scarlet Raptors defeated Stockton University, 12-1, for the second straight win over their New Jersey Athletic Conference rival. Welsher evened his record at 2-2 while shutting out Stockton for eight straight innings after allowing a first-inning run.
Rutgers-Camden improves to 12-18 overall and 3-9 in the NJAC, one day after sophomore
Ian Scheidemann (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) hurled a complete game in a 9-1 win over Stockton in Camden.
The Ospreys, who came into the home-and-home series looking to make progress toward a potential NJAC playoff berth, fall to 12-16 overall and 4-8 in the conference.
Stockton used a walk, a wild pitch and a run-scoring single to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Rutgers-Camden countered with four runs in the top of the second. The frame opened up with back-to-back singles by sophomore second baseman

John DeSantis (Southampton, NJ/Seneca) gave the Raptors a 2-1 lead. Cornelius scored on an error on a sacrifice bunt by freshman third baseman
Tyler Travis (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) and the Raptors capped the frame with a run-scoring single by freshman centerfielder
John Tedeschi (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial).
Rutgers-Camden tacked on a third-inning run after Cornelius singled and stole second base with two outs. He scored on a double to left by DeSantis. A leadoff triple by Jones and a RBI fielder's choice by Cornelius plated another run in the fifth inning for the Raptors, who broke the game open with back-to-back three-run frames in the eighth and ninth innings.

Moises Roque (Piedra Blanca, DR/Harrison). DeSantis and Roque drove home runs and the final run scored on a single by freshman pinch-hitter

DeSantis had a stellar day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs. Cornelius was 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs. Both players had two doubles apiece.
Yanick went 2-for-4 with one run and Jones was 2-for-5 with two runs. Tedeschi drove home a pair of runs.
The Scarlet Raptors return to Campbell's Field on Saturday for a home NJAC doubleheader against Montclair State University, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Rutgers-Camden will honor its seven departing players prior to the game in a Senior Day ceremony.
