SWARTHMORE, Penn. (May 15, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Camden track team brought three members to the Swarthmore Final Qualifier here Monday as it gears up to take several athletes to the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this week.
The men's team saw two athletes run in the 400-meter dash, led by junior
Eric Gilchrist Jr. (New Castle, DE/Christiana), who placed 34th of 44 runners in a time of 51.93. Freshman
Gus Gyamfi (Willingboro, NJ/BCIT-Westampton) finished 43rd with a 55.79 clockng.
The lone woman to compete was
Alisha Singleton (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling), who finished 15th of 15 in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 23.12.
Rutgers-Camden will have three athletes competing in the ECAC Championships, which begin Wednesday at Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts. Sophomore
Cameron Dobbins (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) qualified for the ECAC meet in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while freshmen
Matt Gross (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Kyleigh Stevenson (Carneys Point, NJ/Penns Grove) qualified in the men's and women's javelin competition, respectively.
Stevenson, who has junior eligibility in outdoor track but will be graduating this week, also qualified for the ECAC meet in the 100-meter hurdles this season. She will walk at Rutgers-Camden's graduation instead of competing at the ECAC meet.
