MAHWAH, N.J. (Jan. 3, 2018) – For the majority of its New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night, the Rutgers University-Camden men's basketball team was in a dogfight against one of the top teams in the country, No. 19-ranked Ramapo College.
Late in the game, however, the Roadrunners pulled away from the Scarlet Raptors and went on to post a 93-74 victory, raising their record to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden fell to 2-10 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
Ramapo leads the all-time series, 48-15, and has won its last five games against Rutgers-Camden.
The Scarlet Raptors jumped to an early 10-4 lead before the Roadrunners bounced back to grab a 40-35 halftime edge. The game stayed tight for a good portion of the second half as well, with the Raptors managing to slice their deficit to 45-43 with 17:56 remaining on a pair of foul shots by senior guard
Charlie Riccardi (Mullica Hill, NJ/St. Joseph-Hammonton) and to 47-45 at the 17:13 mark on a jumper by junior guard
Anthony Harris (Philadelphia, PA/Philadelphia Electrical & Technology).

John Herndon (Philadelphia, PA/West Catholic Prep) helped the Scarlet Raptors climb to within four points at 51-47, but the Roadrunners rattled off the next six points to make it a double-digit lead, 57-47. The closest the Raptors came after that was 57-51, following a pair of jumpers by Harris and junior forward
Isaac Destin (Woodlynne, NJ/Collingswood).
With 10:53 remaining, it was a 65-58 game, but over the final 8:36, the Roadrunners outscored the Scarlet Raptors, 24-13.
Four players finished in double digits for the Roadrunners, led by 15 points apiece from senior guard
Josh Ford (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee) and sophomore forward
Matt Lanka (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo). Senior forward
Christopher Moseley (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and sophomore guard
Rob McWilliams (Bauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) both scored 12 points.

Thomas Bonacum (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) had a game-high 13 rebounds as the Roadrunners held a 45-28 advantage off the glass. Ramapo, which placed 11 players in the scoring column, received five assists apiece from Bonacum, Ford and senior guard
James Long (Cliffwood, NJ/St. Joe's Metuchen). Bonacum added a game-high two blocked shots.
Rutgers-Camden's Destin and Harris tied for game-high scoring honors with 19 points apiece. Riccardi added 14 points and Herndon collected a career-high 12. Herndon,
pictured above, also tied for game-high honors with five assists, setting another career high.
Raptor senior guard
Vincent Anfield Jr. (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) tied Ramapo's Bonacum for game-high honors with three steals apiece.
Rutgers-Camden shot 25-for-61 from the floor (41 percent), while Ramapo shot 38-for-65 (58.5).
The Scarlet Raptors return to NJAC play Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Kean University.
