GALLOWAY, N.J. (Jan. 31, 2018) – The Stockton University men's basketball team bolted to a 20-point halftime lead and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 83-75, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action here Wednesday night, spoiling a career-high 39 points by Scarlet Raptor senior guard Vincent Anfield Jr. (Mount Holly, Rancocas Valley)
 
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-17 overall and 1-13 overall with its sixth straight loss. Stockton improves to 12-9 overall and 6-8 in conference play, snapping a three-game losing streak.
 
Stockton has won its last 20 games and 66 of its last 67 against Rutgers-Camden. The Ospreys hold a 74-8 lead in the all-time series.
 
Rutgers-Camden held its lone lead of the night at 2-0. After Stockton scored the next five points before the Raptors tied the game at 5-5, Rutgers-Camden watched Stockton score 12 straight points to take the lead for good, 17-5. The closest the Scarlet Raptors came after that was a 21-14 deficit.
 
By halftime, the Ospreys held a 46-26 lead behind 10 points apiece from junior guard Kashaun Barnes (Toms River, NJ/Manchester Township) and sophomore forward Steve Ferebee (Galloway, NJ/Absegami). Senior forward Kelvin Tull (Millville, NJ/Millville) had nine first-half rebounds.
 
Anfield had nine first-half points for the Scarlet Raptors before pouring in 30 in the second half. His 39 points were the most by a Rutgers-Camden player since Dane Nicholson notched 40 points on Jan. 6, 2005 against Arcadia. He passed his previous Raptor career high of 31 points, scored against Montclair State University on Jan. 10.
 
Anfield, pictured above, shot 11-for-17 from the field, including 3-for-6 from three-point range, and was 5-for-5 from the foul line in the second half. For the game, he went 14-for-20 from the field, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, and 7-for-7 from the line. He also added a career-high eight rebounds.
 
Wednesday's game marked  Anfield's sixth game over 20 points this season, including four of the last five contests and five of the last seven.
 
Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raptors, Stockton offset Anfield's performance with four players in double figures, including 18 points by Barnes and 17 by Ferebee. Tull and senior guard Zavon Johnson (Trenton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) both added 13 points. Tull barely missed a double-double, finishing with a game-high nine rebounds as Stockton held a 36-26 advantage off the glass.
 
In addition to Anfield, Rutgers-Camden received 16 points from senior guard Charlie Riccardi (Mullica Hill, NJ/St. Joseph-Hammonton). Senior guard Marcus Taylor (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) added five points, five rebounds, a team-high four assists and a game-high three blocked shots, which set his career high.
 
Stockton shot 29-for-59 (49.2 percent) from the field, while Camden went 24-for-51 (47.1).
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with a 3 p.m. NJAC home game against Kean University.
