Raptors set team marks while sweeping WPU in volleyball

CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 1, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team set a pair of program records as it swept past William Paterson University, 3-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Tuesday night.

The Scarlet Raptors (8-7 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC) defeated the Pioneers (7-7/0-3 NJAC) by scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-19.

Along the way, the Raptors set team records for a three-set match with 50 kills and 45 assists. The old team record for kills in a three-set match was 49, set against Albright on Sept. 29, 2018. The Raptors also had 44 assists in that Albright match, which was the most recent of three matches they had accomplished that old program mark for three sets.

The Scarlet Raptors were led by senior Morgan Mulligan with 11 kills, nine digs, one ace and one block, and senior Jordan Erskine, who had 11 kills while hitting .429. Sophomore Devyn Cobb collected 10 kills and two blocks.

Sophomore Brinn Hassan had a match-high 26 assists and sophomore Morgan Fox led both teams with 21 digs. Sophomore Delaney Kolb added a match-high three aces.

Rutgers-Camden will be back in action Wednesday, October 2, when it hosts John Jay College in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
