AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 23, 2019) – The Hamilton College baseball team scored four runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 6-1, in the Scarlet Raptors' final spring break game at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational here Saturday.
Rutgers-Camden returns home with a 5-8 record, including a 3-6 mark in Florida. Hamilton (Clinton, New York) improves to 6-5.
The Continentals used three hits, two walks, a pair of Raptor errors and a wild pitch to score four times in the fourth inning after they took a 1-0 lead in the third. The frame started with back-to-back walks and was capped by an RBI triple from designated hitter Matt Cappelletti before Raptor junior starter
Mike Calabrese (0-1) was relieved by freshman
Colin Carr, who worked out of the inning by retiring all three batters he faced.
Calabrese worked three-plus innings, allowing six hits, three walks and five earned runs, while striking out three. Carr worked the final five innings, allowing three hits, one unearned run and one walk. He struck out two.
The Scarlet Raptors managed 10 hits off Hamilton starter Gavin Schaefer-Hood (3-0) in his eight innings, but scored only one run in the fifth inning. With one out, junior catcher

Chris Jones had back-to-back singles. Travis scored on a sacrifice fly by junior designated hitter

Jamie Hauswirth finished up the game for Hamilton, allowing one hit in one shutout inning. He struck out one.
