CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 24, 2019) – The Stockton University volleyball team broke an 18-18 first-set tie with a kill by Caity Ullmer and went on to sweep Rutgers University-Camden, 25-20, 25-4 and 25-21, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Tuesday night.
After taking the lead for good in the first set, the Ospreys jumped to a quick 7-1 lead on the way to their second-set win. In the third set, Stockton took the lead for good at 4-3. The Scarlet Raptors closed to within one point on several occasions late in the set, including 20-19 (on a service ace by
Savannah Hayes) and 21-20 (on a kill by
Jamie Mulligan), but Stockton closed out the match to post its sixth straight win and ninth in its last 10 matches.
The Ospreys improve to 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC while raising their all-time record against Rutgers-Camden to 21-0. The Scarlet Raptors fall to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Sophomore middle hitter
Devyn Cobb paced the Raptors with seven kills, while hitting .357. Sophomore setter
Brinn Hassan had 14 assists and five digs, while sophomore libero
Morgan Fox collected seven digs.
Jamie Mulligan, a senior outside hitter, collected four kills, while fellow senior tri-captains
Morgan Mulligan and
Jordan Erskine both added three kills.
Stockton received 16 kills from Charlotte Leon and 32 assists from Emily Sullivan.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Thursday with a 7 p.m. NJAC match at Montclair State University.
