MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Sept. 26, 2019) – The Montclair State University volleyball team defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 3-1, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match here Thursday night.
The Red Hawks (10-3 overall, 2-1 NJAC) defeated the Scarlet Raptors (7-7, 0-3 NJAC), 25-22, 24-26, 25-12, and 25-22.
Carly Waterman led the Red Hawks with 22 kills and 13 digs, and Leah Higgins added 10 kills to help secure a Montclair State victory.
During the second set, the Scarlet Raptors would register 15 kills and even the match with a 26-24 win.
Seniors
Morgan Mulligan and
Jamie Mulligan had team highs in both kills and digs. Morgan collected 11 kills, 13 digs and three blocks and Jamie had 10 kills and 15 digs.
Sophomore
Kayla Benesz had a team-high in assists with 19, while sophomore
Brinn Hassan added 16.
The Scarlet Raptors will be back in action Tuesday, October 1, when they entertain William Paterson University in a 7 p.m. NJAC match.
