The only goal of the game came at 6:50 when Rowan freshman forward Jay Vandermark headed home a long restart by junior midfielder Mohamed Elgayar. The win wasn't without some anxious moments, however, as Cortland held a 12-10 advantage in shots and a commanding 10-3 margin in corner kicks. The Red Dragons' best chance, however, came late in the first half after freshman forward Wismento Saint-Germain was taken down in the box, earning a penalty kick. The kick was taken by junior forward Cam LaVallee, but was saved on a clutch stop by Rowan junior keeper James Weinberg.
Weinberg finished with five saves, while Cortland senior keeper Sean Kelly had four.
