CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 18, 2021) – Rutgers University-Camden sophomore
Kaliyah Moss (Rockville, MD/Colonel Zadok Magruder) has been taking the New Jersey Athletic Conference by storm in her first season of intercollegiate volleyball and the middle blocker/outside hitter earned another accomplishment today.
Moss captured the NJAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week honor for the second time this season after a pair of double-doubles against conference competition last week. She also earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 13.
Moss didn't play collegiate volleyball during the 2020-21 pandemic season, but is making up for lost time. She collected 12 kills and 15 digs in a four-set win over William Paterson University Tuesday and added 14 kills and 11 digs in a four-set loss against NJAC-leading Rowan University Thursday.
For the week she totaled 26 kills and 26 digs, while hitting .278 with 11 blocks and three service aces.
Moss hiked her season total to eight double-doubles and has barely missed two other double-doubles. She collected nine kills in one match and nine digs in another one after notching double-digit totals in the other category.
Moss, who also was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Sept. 13, has helped the volleyball team post a 14-7 record overall and a 3-3 mark in the NJAC heading into Tuesday's 7 p.m. home match against Kean University.
A Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden, Moss leads the Scarlet Raptors in kills (205), hitting percentage (.312) and blocks (57). She is second on the team in digs (168) and third in service aces (31). She also has added 17 assists.
