GALLOWAY, N.J. (Nov. 23, 2021) – The Stockton University men's basketball team saw three players produce double-figure point totals in the first half on its way to a 113-56 victory over Rutgers University-Camden here Tuesday night.
It was the opening New Jersey Athletic Conference game of the season for both teams. Stockton improves to 4-0 overall, while Rutgers-Camden drops to 0-5.
The Ospreys lead the all-time series against the Scarlet Raptors, 81-8, and have won the last 27 meetings between the teams.
Stockton opened the game with a three-pointer by senior guard Kyion Flanders and added another trey by junior guard DJ Campbell to take a 6-0 lead. The Ospreys steadily pulled away from there, rolling up a halftime lead of 59-31. Flanders notched 20 first-half points, including 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range, while Campbell scored 11 and senior guard Luciano Lubrano added 10 in the opening 20 minutes.
Sophomore guard
Gavin Henry scored seven first-half points to lead the Scarlet Raptors.
Flanders finished with 26 points, while Lubrano netted 16, junior guard Milo De Los Santos notched 13 and Campbell added 11. Senior guard Kadian Dawkins dished out 11 assists for the Ospreys, who shot 36-for-58 (62.1 percent) from the field and held a 34-22 advantage in rebounds. The Ospreys also forced 24 Scarlet Raptor turnovers.
Henry had a team-high 10 points and four rebounds for the Scarlet Raptors, while freshman guard
Anthony Orzechowski scored eight points and added three assists. Sophomore forward
Jordan Carter and freshman guard
Noel Gonzalez both collected seven points, while sophomore guard
Jaelin Keels dished out a team-high four assists. Both Keels and sophomore forward
Tristan Cornish scored six points.
Rutgers-Camden shot 21-for-49 (42.9), including 5-for-21 (23.8) from three-point range.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday, Nov. 30, with a 7:30 p.m. non-conference game at Baruch College.
