CAMDEN, N.J. (April 1, 2021) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team reached the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff semifinals this season and a trio of Scarlet Raptors were recognized for their major contributions.
Erica Nebrich
Freshman outside hitter
Erica Nebrich (Aldie, VA/John Champe) was named the NJAC Rookie of the Year when the all-conference team was released today. Nebrich also earned NJAC Honorable Mention.
A pair of juniors, middle hitter
Devyn Cobb (Southampton, PA/William Tennent) and setter
Brinn Hassan (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) were named to the NJAC Second Team.
The three all-conference players are the most at Rutgers-Camden since the program also had three honorees in 2015. The last time the Raptors placed a student-athlete as high as the NJAC Second Team came in 2015 when
Olivia Rowland earned that honor. The only other time in program history that a Scarlet Raptor was named the NJAC Rookie of the Year was in 2011, when
Morgan Halbruner was honored.
Devyn Cobb
Nebrich had a stellar freshman year for the Scarlet Raptors, including her recognition as the NJAC Rookie of the Week on March 22. She collected a double-double of 10 kills and 13 digs in her first collegiate match, coming against William Paterson on March 2. She also ranks eighth on the career list with a .216 hitting percentage for all players with the minimum of 50 kills.
Both Nebrich and Hassan played in all seven matches and all 23 sets for the Raptors this season. Cobb played in six matches and 20 sets.
Cobb, who earned NJAC Academic Honorable Mention as a sophomore, had another stellar year on the court, including a match against New Jersey City on March 9 in which she hit a phenomenal .889, with eight kills and no errors in nine attempts.
