Stockton tops Raptors in preview of NJAC lacrosse playoffs

GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 24, 2021) – The Rutgers University-Camden lacrosse team ended the regular season with a trip to Stockton University here Saturday.
 
The Scarlet Raptors will start the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs with the same journey on Monday.
 
Stockton scored the first 17 goals here Saturday as it posted a 20-1 victory over Rutgers-Camden in the final regular-season contest for both teams. The victory gives the Ospreys the fourth seed in the upcoming NJAC playoffs with a 1-4 record overall and in the conference. They will host the fifth-seeded Scarlet Raptors (0-4/0-4) in a quarterfinal game Monday at 5 p.m.

Junior midfielder Michelle Pascrell scored for Stockton 55 seconds into the game. By halftime, the Ospreys held a 14-0 lead and a 24-0 advantage in shots.
 
Pascrell finished with four goals and two assists for six points. Junior midfielder Jennifer Toal and junior attack Allie Bremer both had two goals and two assists for four points, while junior attack Casey Shultz added one goal and three assists for four points. Four other Ospreys had two goals apiece, including sophomore attack Holly Yannacone, who also added one assist for three points.
 
Rutgers-Camden scored its lone goal with 18:30 remaining in the game on a free position shot by junior midfielder Claire Gailliout. It was her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
 
Stockton finished with a 40-3 advantage in shots, forcing Raptor senior goalie Brittany Watson and freshman keeper Gina Bellon to make eight saves apiece. Watson increased her program career record to 326 saves. She also faced 24 shots, allowing her to break the program career record for shots faced. Watson now owns 1,076 shots faced, passing the 1,055 set by Rachel Powell (2010-12).
 
Bellon finished with a team-high three ground balls, while Gailliout added two. Junior midfielder Jazmin Torres and freshman attack Linsey Becker led the Scarlet Raptors with two draw controls apiece.
