CAMDEN, N.J. (Jan. 12, 2022) – After watching three straight games get cancelled due to health and safety protocols, the Rutgers University-Camden men's basketball team final opened the new year with its first game since Dec. 11, 2021.
The Scarlet Raptors fell into a quick 11-point hole and never came closer than five points the rest of the way as they lost to Ramapo College, 73-61, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday afternoon.
Ramapo improves to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in the NJAC, stretching its head-to-head winning streak over Rutgers-Camden to 11 straight games. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series, 54-15.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-11 overall and 0-8 in NJAC play.
With freshman point guard Peter Gorman leading the way, scoring four of the Roadrunners' first six points, Ramapo jumped off to an 11-0 lead within the opening four minutes. Three-point field goals by sophomore guard

Jordan Carter cut that gap to 11-6, but the Scarlet Raptors never got closer.
Ramapo scored the next six points to take its first double-digit lead (17-6) and went on to build a 39-25 halftime advantage. Gorman led that first-half attack with nine points, while freshman forward Anthony Corbo had eight.
Rutgers-Camden received 10 first-half points from sophomore guard
Gavin Henry, who finished with a game- and career-high 26 points.
The Roadrunners hiked their lead to as many as 21 points in the second half (64-43), while the Scarlet Raptors were able to come within 10 points on six occasions. The last time was 71-61 with 1:22 remaining following a pair of foul shots by junior guard
Jaymes Savage.
Corbo finished with 19 points to lead the Roadrunners, while Gorman had 11 points and five assists. Senior guard Marquise Kindel notched 10 points for Ramapo.
Henry shot 10-for-18 from the floor, including 3-for-10 from three-point range, and added 3-for-3 shooting from the foul line on his way to 26 points. Sophomore forward
Tristan Cornish added 10 points for the Raptors. Savage had a game-high eight assists, while freshman guard
Anthony Orzechowski notched six points and five assists.
Ramapo held a 35-21 advantage off the boards, led by seven rebounds from freshman center Jordan Myers.
The Roadrunners shot 28-for-47 (59.6 percent) from the floor, while the Raptors were 23-for-56 (41.1).
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. NJAC game at Kean University.
