CAMDEN, N.J. (Jan. 31, 2022) – Senior guards Quincy Rutherford and Abe Kromah scored 18 points to power the Rutgers University-Newark men's basketball team to a 67-33 victory over Rutgers University-Camden in a New Jersey Athletic Conference makeup game here Monday night.
The game was originally scheduled for Jan. 29 before being postponed by the blizzard.
The victory lifts the Scarlet Raiders to 13-6 overall and 10-3 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 1-15 and 1-12. Newark has won its last seven games and 13 of the last 14 against Camden. The Scarlet Raiders lead the all-time series, 58-36.
Rutgers-Newark never trailed in the game and was tied only once, at 2-2. The Scarlet Raiders broke that tie with the next 12 points, sparked by back-to-back three-pointers from Rutherford and Kromah. By halftime, Newark held a 31-18 lead, with Kromah scoring 10 points and Rutherford adding eight.
Newark led by as many as 37 points, 67-30, late in the game.
Newark placed 12 players in the scoring column and held a 37-32 edge off the boards, aided by a game-high five rebounds from Rutherford. Kromah, meanwhile, had game-high totals of four assists and two steals.

Jaymes Savage led the team with four rebounds, while adding two points, one assist and one steal.
Newark shot 27-for-55 (49.1 percent) from the floor and Camden shot 13-for-49 (26.5). The Scarlet Raiders also drained eight treys in 18 attempts (44.4).
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. NJAC game at Rowan University.
