Rutgers-Camden volleyball sweeps home tri-match
CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 16, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team had a long weekend of action, with tri-matches both on Saturday and Sunday.
The Sunday tri-match, played on the Scarlet Raptors' own court, was much more to their liking.
One day after losing both ends of a tri-match at Marywood University, the Scarlet Raptors turned the tables as they won a pair of matches against Immaculata University and Moravian University.
The Scarlet Raptors swept Immaculata University, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-15. In their second match of the day, the Raptors bounced back from losing a first-set marathon, 31-29, to sweeping the last three sets, 25-17, 25-22 and 25-21.
In the other match of the day, Moravian swept past Immaculata in three sets.
The sweep lifts Rutgers-Camden to 11-12 overall and completes a busy week in which the Scarlet Raptors went 3-3 in six matches, including 1-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
Moravian stands at 11-13, while Immaculata falls to 6-12.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Thursday when they host Gwynedd Mercy University in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.

collected 11 kills apiece while hitting .471 and .308, respectively. Junior outside hitter
Dyamond Free hit .350 with nine kills for the Scarlet Raptors, who rolled up 41 kills and a .356 hitting percentage as a team.
Free added a team-high nine digs, while senior libero/defensive specialist
Morgan Fox added eight and freshman libero/defensive specialist
Bella Craig had six. Fox and senior defensive specialist
Haley Novak led the team with two service aces apiece.

Brinn Hassan delivered 34 assists and five digs.
Choice and sophomore middle hitter/right side
Kaitlyn Parrish had two assisted blocks apiece, while Parrish also had six kills and hit .500.
With the score tied at 19-19 in the opening set, the Raptors ran off the final six points, aided by three Immaculata errors, two kills by Choice and one by Free. In the second set, down 5-4, the Raptors ran off the next five points to take the lead for good. The run was sparked by a kill from Parrish.
Rutgers-Camden was down early in the third set, 5-2, before rallying and eventually breaking a 10-10 tie on an Immaculata service error. Leading, 13-12, the Raptors ran off the next six points to help put the match away.
Rutgers-Camden 3, Moravian 1
After their tough 31-29 loss in a first-set marathon, the Scarlet Raptors battled back to sweep the next three sets. The Raptors clinched the second set on a kill by Parrish, wrapped up the third set on an ace by Choice and clinched the fourth set and the match on back-to-back kills by Parrish and McCrae.
Choice ended up with 15 kills, a .481 hitting percentage, four service aces, four blocks (one solo) and two digs.
McCrae added 14 kills, two aces and completed a double-double with 15 digs, while Free had 11 kills. Parrish collected seven kills and sophomore right side
Peyton McGregor delivered four kills.
Hassan dished off 42 assists
Fox finished with 25 digs and five assists, while Novak had nine digs and a team-high six aces. Craig added seven digs and three aces.
