CAMDEN, N.J. (March 11, 2022) – When the Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team finished the fall semester portion of its 2021-22 season, the Scarlet Raptors owned a perfect 8-0 record in dual matches.
The Raptors extended that unblemished mark here Friday when they opened the spring season with a 9-0 victory over Eastern University.
The Raptors swept the doubles matches behind the top team of sophomore
Sarah Ahrens and senior
Tiffany Trivers, who posted an 8-2 win, while the second team of sophomore
Samantha Hoban and junior
Laurel DiStefano won, 8-0. Seniors
LeAnne Hall and
Morgan Dempsey completed the sweep at third doubles, 8-1.
Ahrens won at first singles (6-1, 6-1), Hoban captured the second singles match (6-3, 6-1) and Trivers posted a win at third singles (6-1, 6-0). DiStefano swept her fourth singles match (6-0, 6-0), while the last two singles matches were played pro-sets, with Dempsey and senior
Hannah Cohan both winning 8-0 at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday, March 19, with a 12 p.m. match at Bryn Athyn College.
