CAMDEN, N.J. (April 15, 2022) – After hitting a small bump in the road, the Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team returned to its winning ways here Friday, defeating Ramapo College, 9-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match.
The victory lifts the Scarlet Raptors to 12-3 overall and 2-2 in NJAC play, snapping a three-match losing streak that occurred on the heels of winning their first 11 matches of the season.
Ramapo falls to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC.
Rutgers-Camden is now 4-7 against Ramapo since restarting its women's tennis program in 2011, but the Scarlet Raptors have won the last four meetings between the teams.
Sophomore
Sarah Ahrens posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first singles and teamed with senior
Tiffany Trivers to earn an 8-2 victory at first doubles. Trivers, meanwhile, won her third singles match, 6-2, 6-2.
At second singles, sophomore
Samantha Hoban captured a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while junior
Laurel DiStefano won at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-0. Hoban and DiStefano combined for an 8-2 win at second doubles.
Seniors
LeAnne Hall and
Morgan Dempsey won their third doubles match, 8-1. Hall also won at fifth singles, 8-3, while Dempsey won at sixth singles, also by an 8-3 score.
The Scarlet Raptors host New Jersey City University Monday at 3:30 p.m. in another NJAC makeup match. The match was originally scheduled for April 3.
