GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 9, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team dropped its third straight match here Saturday as it fell to Stockton University, 7-2, in New Jersey Athletic Conference competition.
The Scarlet Raptors fall to 11-3 overall and 1-2 in NJAC play, while Stockton improves to 10-1 and 3-0.
Stockton is 11-1 against Rutgers-Camden since the Scarlet Raptors restarted their tennis program in 2011.
Sophomore
Sarah Ahrens contributed to both Scarlet Raptor wins, earning a 6-3, 6-3 victory at first singles and teaming with senior
Tiffany Trivers for an 8-7 (7-5) win at first doubles.
At second doubles, junior
Laurel DiStefano and sophomore
Samantha Hoban dropped a tough 8-6 decision, while seniors
Morgan Dempsey and
LeAnne Hall were defeated at third doubles, 8-3.
The doubles victory for Ahrens and Trivers was their 12th of the year as a team, allowing them to tie the single-season program record held by Dempsey and Hall.
Hoban lost at second singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Trivers lost at the third flight, 6-1, 6-1. DiStefano was defeated at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-2, Hall lost at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-2 and Dempsey was defeated in the sixth spot, 6-2, 6-0.
The Scarlet Raptors host Ramapo College Friday at 3:30 p.m. in another NJAC match.
