Raptors finish competition at Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, Penn. (March 30, 2024) – Freshman Oluwamayowakun Ojutalayo finished 10th out of 96 athletes in the men's 100-meter dash (11.07) and freshman Hector Diaz finished sixth of 22 men in the high hurdles (15.77) at the Rutgers University-Camden track teams competed on the second and final day of the Danny Curran Invitational Saturday at Widener University.
 
Diaz also finished 51st out of 90 athletes in the men's 200-meter dash (23.87), while sophomore Nadir Paige finished 57th at 200 meters (24.07) and 25th at 100 meters (11.29). Freshman Robert Bayard was 28th at 100 meters (11.39).
 
Freshman Dyheim Watson completed his impressive weekend by placing 19th of 29 in the hammer throw (33.63 meters), one day after finishing 16th in the shot put and 26th in the discus. Sophomore Brandon Butts, meanwhile, placed 25th of 48 in the long jump (5.90 meters) and sophomore Walter Pierce finished 33rd of 55 in the 400-meter dash (53.93).
 
The Scarlet Raptor women were led by freshman Kaitlyn Novak, who finished 15th of 32 in the hammer (31.67 meters) and sophomore Xochitl Bautista-Castelan, who was 27th of 42 in the 400-meter dash (1:09.35).
 
Junior Evelyn Macias Pilco finished 41st of 58 in the 100-meter dash (14.34) and freshman Leilani Taylor was 43rd (14.39). Macias Pilco and Taylor also were the Raptors' top runners in the 76-woman field of the 200-meter dash, finishing 58th (30.47) and 62nd (30.85), respectively. Taylor also placed 25th of 35 in the long jump (4.40 meters).
 
Junior Francis Hill finished 17th of 24 in the women's javelin (24.91 meters).
 
The Scarlet Raptors return to action on Friday, April 5, for the first of two days at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival.
