Marshall has stellar day at TCNJ Invite and Multi

EWING, N.J. (April 13, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden outdoor track teams turned in several strong performances during the final day of the TCNJ Invite and Multi here Saturday.
 
Freshman Sydnie Marshall finished third of 27 in the women's 100-meter timed finals (a PR 13.75), 18th of 40 in the 400-meter dash (a PR of 1:06.57), 31st of 61 in the women's 200 meters (28.26) and helped the 4x100 team finish seventh of nine (57.06), aided by freshman Leilani Taylor, sophomore Xochitl Bautista-Castelan and junior Evelyn Macias Pilco.
 
The men's 4x100, meanwhile, finished third of 11 teams (44.05) with the combination of freshmen Brandon Butts and Robert Bayard and sophomores Oluwamayowakun Ojutalayo and Nadir Paige.
 
Senior Alexis Marini placed third of 41 in the women's discus throw (34.63 meters) and 16th of 34 in the shot put (10.19). On the men's side, freshman Dyheim Watson was 15th of 32 in the discus (a PR of 34.80 meters) and 28th of 7 in the shot put (10.73 meters), one day after finishing 16th of 31 in the hammer (35.18 meters) at the TCNJ meet.
 
Butts placed 22nd of 37 in the men's long jump (5.77 meters) and seventh of seven in the triple jump (11.38 meters), while freshman Keion Elliott set a PR of 1.79 meters in finishing 10th of 23 in the high jump.
 
In the men's 100-meter prelims, Bayard finished 11th of 28 with a PR of 11.37, while Paige was 13th (11.47).
 
In addition to Marshall, Bautista-Castelan finished 29th in the 400-meter dash (1:11.88) and freshman Matogoma Meite was 16th in the 100-meter times finals (a PR of 15.57). Taylor finished 42nd in the women's 200-meter dash (a PR of 29.73).
 
In the men's 200-meter dash, Ojutalayo placed 10th of 82 (a PR of 22.68) and Bayard was 22nd (a PR of 23.12).
 
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Friday and Saturday at the Widener Invitational in Chester, Penn.
