Raptors shine at Ursinus College Track & Field Festival
COLLEGEVILLE, Penn. (April 6, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden track teams turned in several outstanding performances as the Scarlet Raptors competed on the second day of the Ursinus College Track and Field Festival here Saturday.
Freshman
Oluwamayowakun Ojutalayo qualified for the finals in the seeded 100-meter dash by finishing seventh of 40 athletes (11.35) and went on to finish second of three in the finals in a time of 11.39. The Raptors placed two other runners in the top 10 of the 100-meter trials, with freshman
Robert Bayard finishing ninth (11.59) and sophomore
Nadir Paige finishing 10th (11.68).
In the women's seeded 100-meter dash, junior
Alyson Petro finished 15th of 38 in a time of 14.25.
The Raptors saw sophomore
Walter Pierce finishing fifth of 35 in the men's 400-meter finals (54.50), while Rutgers-Camden ran four women in the 38-athlete 400-meter finals. They were led by sophomore
Isabella Bordon, who finished 15th (1:06.11) and freshman
Sydnie Marshall, who placed 20th (1:07.54).
Marshall also finished 14th of 43 in the women's 200-meter finals (28.22), while Petro was 25th (29.67).
Freshman
Lindsay Lopez Trejo finished 28th of 40 in the women's 800-meter finals (3:03.88).
In the women's hammer, senior
Alexis Marini finished second out of 24 athletes (46.19 meters), while freshman
Kaitlyn Novak was ninth (30.07 meters). The men's hammer featured 20 athletes, with Raptor freshman
Dyheim Watson finishing sixth (41.09 meters).
In the women's javelin, junior
Francis Hill finished eighth of 17 (24.08 meters).
The Scarlet Raptors return to action at the TCNJ Invite and Multi meet April 11-13.
