EWING, N.J. (Oct. 15, 2025) – The strangest New Jersey Athletic Conference series for the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team kept true to form here Wednesday night, and that was bad news for the Scarlet Raptors.
The College of New Jersey scored a pair of second-half goals and went on to blank Rutgers-Camden, 2-0. The loss at TCNJ continued a trend in the series for the Raptors, who haven't won in Ewing since 2003. Since then, they've gone 0-8-4 at TCNJ, yet in that same time span they've been 9-1 in Camden, losing only in 2010.
The loss was the third straight for Rutgers-Camden, which fell to 6-6-2 overall and 3-2 in NJAC play. TCNJ improved to 7-3-4 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.
The Lions broke a scoreless tie only 2:17 into the second half when freshman back Matt Maceri scored, assisted by freshman forward Matt Will. They added an insurance goal 10 minutes later, with junior midfielder Matias Hornos assisting junior midfielder/forward Chris Meder.
Rutgers-Camden held a 16-12 advantage in shots, but the Scarlet Raptors only put three of them on goal, while TCNJ had five shots on goal. Both teams had nine corner kicks.
Rutgers-Camden junior goalie
Aleksander Nycz made three saves, while Lions freshman keeper Sean Najdzinowicz made three saves of his own to earn the shutout.
The Scarlet Raptors host New Jersey City University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in another NJAC game.
